Welcome to the Har-Bur Nutmeg Blog! Mrs. Grant and Mrs. Grundt are looking forward to reading your reviews this summer. You can see examples of book reviews and comments written by students on our 5th grade book review blog, and reviews from 6th graders from the January 2014 post of this blog. You may use the book review template (as well as other ideas mentioned) as a guideline for what to include, but don’t forget to add your own personality and style to your writing!
How to post a comment:
- At the bottom of this post, click “Comments”
- Type your review or comment in the comments box, or copy and paste from another program.
- Proof read for correct punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and spelling. Remember, other students and teachers will be able to view your comments.
- Select the dropdown menu for “Comment As.” You may either select “Anonymous” or “Name/URL” and enter your first name only. Leave the URL box empty.
- Click “Publish.” Your comment will not appear on the blog until Mrs. Grant or Mrs. Grundt have approved it.
*Please note that if you include your last name in your post, we will not be able to publish your comment.
Suggestions for commenting on other’s reviews:
- keep it positive
- compliment the writer in a specific way, “I really liked how you…”
- ask a question about their review or the book
- share your opinion if you read the same book

ReplyDeleteI read the Nutmeg Pie. Pie was a great book. I really liked it, and it is definitely on my Top 10 Books list! If I had to pick one of the Nutmegs I read so far, I would pick Pie. Very entertaining, I couldn't stop reading it!!!!

DeleteOne of the Nutmegs that I read this summer was called The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson. This book was very interesting and suspenseful. I would recommend this book for everyone to read! Posted by Aneesh.
ReplyDeleteI read the Nutmeg book The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing by Sheila Turnage. It was a really good book. The end was a little bit confusing, but I ended up figuring it out. I would recommend this to everybody who likes a good mystery. - Avia
ReplyDeleteI read The One and Only Ivan. It was a fantastic and heartfelt book about a lonely gorrila living in a shopping mall with a stray dog. Then he met a baby elephant named Ruby. They became friends... then the mall shut down! They were moved to a zoo where Ivan met more gorillas. Bob, the stray, found Ivan and said hello. They all had happy lives. This book is great because it is friendship filled, and has happy and sad parts.

I also read One dog and his boy. It was a great stoy about a boy named Hal who ran away with a puppy named Fleck, 4 other dogs, and his friend Pippa. Hal's mom did not want a dog. So Hal's grandparents let them stay at their cottage. Hal got to own the puppy, Pippa went back home, and the 4 dogs got homes. It was a great ending. This book was wonderful and had a superb variety of details! You should really read this book!
